TRP – Television Rating Points
Any television show’s popularity may be evaluated using TVRPs (Television Rating Points). It is just a number provided to the production crew so they may understand the level of audience popularity for the presentation. The majority of television programs are shown many times daily these days.
The TRP is important for determining the number of serial viewers across all networks. The marketing team can use this figure to choose whether or not to advertise the serial on a certain channel. Additionally, it refers to the total daily views a serial receives across all websites.
Full Form of TRP
The Target Rating Point, or TRP, is a term used to evaluate a channel’s popularity as well as the number of people who watch a certain program. TV networks utilize ratings to decide whether to repeat a certain show or not. The rating system is used to evaluate how viewers react to television programs. Networks may determine which shows are popular and which should be canceled by analyzing the watching patterns of a certain group.
TRP Calculation Method
The Broadcast Audience Rating Council (Barc), usually known as Barc in the abbreviation, is responsible for calculating TRPs. The ratings are determined using a method called Barometer that Barc has developed. These meters are currently deployed up to 45,000 in different paneled residences.
These meters record every television program that a household’s members watch. So far, two methods have been used to obtain this information. One of them is known as Picture Meters, while the other is known as People Meters.
The council determines the final TRP of various serials and channels based on information collected from all the homes. The real TRP of the week is released every Thursday, and these final TRP calculations are disclosed on a weekly basis. You can get the real TRP on the Barchindian website.
